General
instructions
Makin's Clay: this clay dries in the air therefore
store clay not in use and also whilst making projects
in an closed, air tight bag in the special Makin's Clay
storage box.
Cutting out clay: Roll out the clay to 2 mm thick,
if using the clay roller this is quickly and evenly done.
Use the cutters to cut the required shape and/or letters.
Push the shapes out carefully using the round side of
a spatula. Lay the shape down flat and work it with the
spatula. Allow everything to dry for a few hours (time
depends on thickness).
|

 |
Painting:
To apply the paint easily and evenly use a small piece
of sponge and do not forget the edges! If a piece is difficult
to reach then use a brush. Paint several thin layers for
an opaque result. As the clay absorbs the paint it is
dry in minutes. Leave to dry for 24 hours and then stick
the clay shapes into the scrapbook. Cover the whole of
the back with Pritt Powerstick, this stops distortion.
Structure sheet: This transparent push mould allows
you to make motifs in clay sheet. Roll the clay 2mm thick
using the clay roller. Dust the sheet with talcum powder
using a brush to stop the clay sticking to the mould.
Lay the clay onto the sheet and push it with your fingers
and then lightly with the roller. Check the back of the
mould to make sure that the motifs are properly filled.
Carefully peel back the clay on one side and then slowly
release the rest.

Instructions
butterfly garden:
1. Decide the layout with the block template. Lay
the template onto a page placing the photos and remaining
decorations under the template and then draw the shapes
of the template on to them.
2. Cut the photos and coloured paper on the drawn
line and lay them back in the spaces on the block template.
Stick them all into place one by one.
3. Use a pencil to indicate the |

 |
eyelet
placements with a dot. Set the eyelets with a toolset.
Link the eyelets in the bottom blocks on the left-hand
page using Wire & Wire 4cm longer that the space between
the eyelets. Push end of the wire through one eyelet and
secure to the back with sticky tape. Hang a butterfly
embellishment onto this: the end of the wire passing from
top to bottom through the eye the other goes the other
way round. This ensure that the embellishment lies flat
and in place.
4. Thread the Wire & Wire through the 2nd eyelet
and secure with tape. For the wire crosses on the right-hand
page cut 8 pieces of wire. Secure 2 pieces through the
top eyelets. Thread both from top to bottom through the
embellishment so that they cross in the centre of a green
square. Secure the ends of the Wire on the back.
5. Stick the Makin's Clay Embellishments on with
Pritt Power Stick.
6. Cover the eyelets on the back of the pages with
strips of paper.

Instructions
Giraffes:
1. Roll the clay out (a clay roller makes this
very easy) and use a Texture sheet on it. Use the cutters
to cut squares and rectangles out of the textured clay.
2. When dry sponge with a mixture of Aleene's Acrylic
paint Teddy bear and a little Deep peach and allow to
dry.
3. Mix black paint with deep peach and metallic
copper. Dab the high areas of the clay shapes lightly
in.
|
  |
4.
On a rolled out sheet of clay draw the letters giraffes
with a pointed spatul. Cut the letter tiles out and allow
to dry. Trim the tiles further if necessary and then paint
them. Remove surplus paint from the letters with a toothpick.
5. Tear green bamboo paper into squares: one 27
x 27 cm, two 14 x 17 cm and one 9 x 11 cm. Stick the largest
on the lefthand page with a smaller, torn camel square
on top. Stick the photo onto a slightly larger piece of
camel paper and then onto a piece of amber paper measuring
16 x 19 cm.
6. Frame the photo with the thin, textured clay
blocks.
7. Dab the edges of the 4 x 16 cm piece of amber
paper with the brown stamp ink. Glue the letter blocks
onto this and stick the completed piece under the photo.
8. For the right hand page cut a piece of camel
paper 10,5 x 25,5 cm. Stick 2 photos onto a wide strip
of amber paper.
9. Stick clay blocks onto the strip and then the
whole lot over 2 torn squares of bamboo paper. Stick a
photo onto a slightly larger piece of amber paper and
place top left. Tear a strip of camel paper and cut a
strip of amber paper. Glue these one on top of the other
on the smallest bamboo paper.
10. Stencil the date of the visit to the zoo onto
this. |
